It is commonly believed that the Maneki-Neko was born as a cat at a temple in Kugane. According to the local folklore, while hunting with falcons, a samurai was saved from a lightning bolt when the cat beckoned him into the temple. Grateful to the cat for saving his life, the samurai made it a patron of the temple where it has been venerated in its very own shrine ever since. Since that day, in shops and businesses across the Far East, the Maneki-Neko in its ceramic form can still be seen beckoning customers.Centuries later, a peculiar successor to the Maneki-Neko, Ildri, inherited this duty to bestow prosperity and fortune to those around them. Unlike their ancestors, Ildri easily fell victim to alcohol beverages and gambling as the wards in the Far East were flourishing with taverns and casinos. Despite being surrounded by a bustling environment, Ildri felt unsatisfied by something unknown. Was it the way the liquor tasted funny? Was it the way they were undefeated in gambling games such as Chō-han and Divination? No, Ildri possessed everything a Maneki-Neko needed to do as a Maneki-Neko had done for the realm, since the beginning. But was it possible there was something they wanted for themselves? After all, this lone yokai had been worshipped by beings who wanted the Maneki-Neko's fortune for their own benefit.On a particular night, Ildri visited Lavender Bed, treating it like another night at a ward. Legend tells of a fair courtesan, as pale as snow, who hid amidst the crimson streets of Kugane. Luring in victims with looks and charm only to deliver onto them their end, they would be later known and feared as the "Crimson Snow". Working as a messenger for the wronged and deliverer of revenge, many have fallen into their honeyed trap until the day they disappeared as mysteriously as they came, leaving behind a singular object: A beautiful, deadly sharp tantou said to be a gift to the Master of their House. The House held the tantou for generations until the Doman Revolution, where the tantou was thought to have been lost forever in the debris of war.But this was not the case, as the tantou would awaken as a tsukumogami, kami forged by the fire of fiery revenge and sharpened with blootlust. Taking the form of his previous master, he longed for the comforting familiarity of the crimson streets, and thus, the splitting image of the Crimson Snow would appear at the Lunar's Respite ,carrying with him the same beautiful, deadly tantou.He comes off as a charming and charismatic individual at first glance, both of which are traits he imitates from his master. Beneath his act lies a wary individual with a reserved disposition who can be found hiding out of sight or silently huddled in a corner at times, watching from a distance when attention is spared from his self. There was a Samurai, clearly unknown to the desert given his attire ; Azmak saw his oppurtunity to progress his love for martial arts. He pleaded with this Samurai to train him, but Azmak's offer was refused, for now. This Samurai by pure chance was beaten thoroughly by monster in the wild : Azmak by pure luck or perhaps not, rushed in picked up the Samurai's blade and struck it down. The Samurai reconsidered Azmak's Offer an brought him back to The Far East to train him.Years passed, many many years...Azmak is still unsure how many. He has truely mastered the blade by now, however the Samurai was attacked in his own home! This lead to the death of the Samurai, by which Azmak considered him a Friend...no, considered him as family. Azmak's rage boiled over and he slew all they who harmed his one and only friend. Standing over his mentor's cold lifeless body bloodied and with eyes of fury, the members of the house ostrazied Azmak ; Some think he killed his only friend, others wonder if he was so capable why did he not save him? Eventually it got to much, sick of the being a scapegoat just for being an outsider, he stole his friend's blade and ran far far away. Azmak made an oath to himself ; "I will NEVER lose another person I care about!" and this has been his drive for many many more years, wandering aimlessly he stumbled upon Lunar's Respite, a patron at first but a sense of nostalgia burned within him, almost as if his long passedd mentor had spurred him into coming here. Azmak asked for a job and not long after he got it. Now this humble Nekomata, ostraczied for being an outsider has found a new home among the Lunar and it's dwellers, new friends who he will never let get harmed.To this day, so many years later. Azmak can still be found staring at the blade on his hip with the look of bittersweet nostalgia spainted across his face.
